The EMG 85 is a bit more sophisticated than its famous brother, the EMG 81. With its Alnico V magnets, it sounds very muscular, rounded and delivers slightly finer lead sounds. It’s more versatile, covering everything from blues to extreme metal. Although it is often used on the neck, make no mistake. It’s a fantastic bridge pickup and will play well with virtually any other EMG humbucker.
